Smartphones, the attractive target of Cybercriminals

A Bad news for mobile net users, it was found that now 2.5 times more likely to encounter malware (malicious software) than you were six months ago and the real affected ones are the Android users.
This news is according to a report given out by Lookout Mobile Security. Though they are providing mobile security tools, the mobile security is at risk.

Mobile net users never bother about the security of the software they download and install but the fact is that they are creating more problems than the PC users.

Kevin Mahaffey, Lookout's CTO and co-founder, explained that spotting malware on mobile devices is a bigger technical challenge than on computers. They said that PC is having high power and capacity to run security analysis but to develop same type of security analysis for mobile may take decades.

Mahaffey notes that if your phone is running an older version of the Android operating system, you face greater mobile security risks.

On Android phones, OS updates get deployed via a variety of manufacturers and wireless carriers. Because of this complexity, on many phones system updates lag behind -- sometimes far behind -- the latest "flavor" of Android (currently 2.3 "Gingerbread" for phones).

Some of the clues for detecting malware includes clues like” If your battery suddenly starts draining really fast, consider that it might be malware”.
The strange text message that comes from unknown sources are also a clue for detecting malwares in mobiles.
